Demolition Is Done: Time to Rebuild a Center for Community!

September 16: We held our groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction of the new Salvation Army Community Center in Newark.  This event was attended by over 100 people including Mayor Alan Nagy of Newark, Mayor Bill Harrison of Fremont and Mayor Carol Dutra of Union City.  We also were honored by the presence of Assemblymember  Kansen Chu  and Senator Bob Wieckowski.

This new 11,000 square foot facility will allow us to expand the food services we currently provide to the needy in all 3 cities, as well as establish new programs for youth and seniors alike.

This project is expected to take 12 months to complete.  Please check back with us as we provide updates on the progress of this new center!
