About the Family Emergency Shelter
When disaster strikes, The Salvation Army gets individuals and families back on solid ground. Whether it's a family who finds themselves on the street, an individual who is without food to eat or a community that has experienced a disaster, we are committed to rebuilding strength.
Through our Family Emergency Shelter, which has 16 rooms and a total of 84 beds, we keep families together during times of crisis and provide them with structured programs and an opportunity to live in a safe place. We provide access to social service programs, including help finding more permanent housing and employment.
In addition to these services, we are also a designated disaster releft site for the Alameda County Office of Emergency and Disaster Services. We are prepared to provide shelter and food to thousands throughout the East Bay in an event of a large-scale disaster.
